Where We Have Been for the Past Two Years

Copenhagen Denmark Temple
High Priest Social

It has been a “great and dreadful” week.  It has been great because we have spent the week in the Temple.  It has been dreadful because we have said good-bye to our many wonderful friends.

Yesterday was the last day in the Temple and we were able to spend some quiet time in some of our favorite spaces.  As Coordinator I had a ten-minute period where I could go to the quiet and peaceful Baptistery.  The soft light from the skylight allowed me to sit in the room without turning on the lights.  I could see the two beautiful murals that fill the two curved walls on either side of the font.  The murals are filled with so much symbolism that a person could study them for days and continue to find something new.

We were the last workers to leave the Temple, and we left with melancholy feelings, knowing we might never go in there again.

We were asked to occupy the training time in our Prayer Meeting before the sessions yesterday.  That, of course, started the flood of tears that have lasted on-and-off until we left our meetings in the Frederiksberg Ward this afternoon.

Each day this past week has had different Temple Workers so the teary good byes have really been a continual occurrence.  Norma served “thank you” cookies in the Lounge each day also.

After leaving the Temple yesterday we drove with the Koch’s to Hans and Lis Andersen’s Summer House to celebrate Saint Hans aften with the Frederiksberg High Priest Group.  It was a wonderful outing and a good break from our sadness.  (I will devote the next week’s blog to coverage of the Saint Hans celebration).

This morning, without any previous notice, we were asked to give our testimonies in Sacrament Meeting.  The Stake Presidency was visiting and they were the speakers for the day so we didn’t need to occupy very much time.  They are both very good speakers and asked if we would take some time.  It was good to be able to thank the Ward for our time there.
Midnight on June 21st

We are now home and waiting to go to the Bishop’s for dinner.  For the past few weeks our dinner appointments have been many, as you can imagine.  We were careful not to get tears in any of the food.  Danish food is the best and we didn’t want to spoil any of it.

I’ll close for now,

See you at home!

Love you all,
Mom and Dad
