| Field Trip |
Well, it has turned chilly this week. We should have expected it. It is October after all. We did have a couple of sunny mornings, which allowed us to take our walks without too much discomfort, though the temperature is about 50 degrees. The parks and woods around the castles and manor houses have wonderful walking trails which we took advantage of. Even the manor houses on the lake shores have public access trails along the lake, though many of the houses are occupied and do not allow the public on their private grounds. We enjoyed our walks and saw “postcard” views at every turn. Hope you enjoy some of these images that are only about 15 to 20 minutes from our apartment (by their MAX line which is just up the block from us).

We always share the train with school children, either going to school or on a “field trip”. We also share the parks and woods with them. Their teachers (we counted one for every eight students one day) herd the children of all ages, by age groups, on the train, or along the trails in the woods, or in the castles or museums. Early one morning this week during our walk in the woods we heard a bunch of twelve year olds shouting at each other. When we looked in the direction of the stream we saw about twenty colorful kayaks and their “skippers” gliding along.
As I have mentioned, we are helping out at the Mission Office on Tuesdays, and have been asked to make a plan for simplifying the spaces and cutting down on the “eye clutter” (which is considerable).

The new President is a very impressive man (the first Dane to occupy this position). He loves order and simplicity. If we get the cooperation of his staff, I think we can help him. We have some ideas and will make a presentation soon.
The Temple is closed for maintenance the next two weeks. We are going to Jytland and Fyn to visit some old acquaintances and stop at a couple of archives for some research. We have worked out a stop-along-the-way plan to take advantage of some historical spots, and a few Danish modern architectural landmarks. The hotels are much too expensive for our missionary budget so we are staying in Bed&Breakfast facilities. They are also quite expensive, but better than hotels. We thought of trying the wonderful Family Hostels, but they are more expensive than Bed&Breakfasts. Hope we won’t be disappointed.

I went to the direct wire broadcast of Priesthood Meeting this morning. It was a rebroadcast, otherwise we would need to meet at 2 am this morning. Yes, I did sit on the front row as we usually do. No one else seemed to want to sit on the front row so I had it to myself. I visualized all of you guys coming in and sitting by me, but none of you showed up. I missed you. It was a great meeting as usually. It was received in two languages. Danish was in the Chapel and English was in the Cultural Hall. We watched the Saturday sessions on the computer last evening; the first from 6pm to 8pm and the second from 10pm to 12am. It came through “loud and clear”.

That will be it for now.
Love you all!
