While The Temple Is Closed For Repairs

We are in Stockholm today, after arriving yesterday afternoon.  We spent Thursday and Friday with some newfound family in the Gothenburg area.  It was a wonderful two days which we are excited to tell you about; however, we are going to wait until next week because the photos which need to accompany that narrative, are trapped in the other camera, with no way to get them out until we get home on Wednesday.  There are some exciting new discoveries, which you will have to wait until next week to hear about.

In the mean time we will share our experiences of the past 48 hours.  I arranged to rent hotel rooms with breakfast included so we could save some valuable time while we are here.  Well, you know “the best laid plans” . . . . .   We needed to catch the 8:30 train out of Gothenburg, which meant that we would need to leave the hotel at 7 am in order to travel the distance and fill the rental car with diesel.  The hotel informed us that they do not serve breakfast on Saturdays until 8 am and would not be able to accommodate us though we had paid for breakfast.  This meant that we would be eating “7 Eleven” stuff or fast until we arrived in Stockholm.  We found a salad and a sandwich and was glad for anything.

The train rolled away right on time, and took us through some unbelievable early morning scenery.  We passed lakes that were like mirrors.  It was a still and clear day, and there were no ripples in the water so the images in the water were as clear as the real objects.  I decided the windows were not clean enough to do the scenery justice, so you will just have to accept my description.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning were as summery as the past two weeks have been.  The temperatures have been in the mid 70s and clear as a bell.  We arrived in Stockholm at about 1 pm.  It was easy to find our hotel, and we purchased 72 hour bus and train passes so we could get around as we do in Copenhagen; however, by about 2 pm when we finally began seeing the sites the wind started blowing and the dark clouds moved in with a threat of rain.  We packed in summer weather so we didn’t include our cold weather clothes.  We made-do however, and spend most of the afternoon and evening seeing some beautiful parts of Stockholm.  We  kept moving to stay warm, and waited for breaks in the clouds so we could have some sunny photos.  I think we did ok. We were happy to get back to the hotel for Tea Time, so we could have something hot to drink.  I found in the case of teas a pomegranate/Echinacea which appealed to me because I have been under the weather for about four days.  The tea hit the spot.

Today, we found the closest church and attended the meetings, then caught the train out to the Stockholm Temple.  We ate a Chinese dinner and then rode the train out to the end of a couple of lines so we could get an idea of the outer areas of the city.  We didn’t see anything as beautiful as the Old City, which we visited last evening.  Hope you enjoy the images.
