Birthday Time

Her Subjects Wish Her Happy Birthday
A field trip to the Queen

Last week’s blog was a little late and this week’s blog is a little early and next week’s – who knows.  We will be showing those of the family who come to visit, the sights of Denmark and especially Copenhagen.  Angie, Zach, Karen and Ben will arrive tomorrow morning at 7:35, than the fun begins.

We also had some fun this week squeezed in among our travel preparations.  We celebrated the Queen’s Birthday.  We have, on occasion, met the Royal Guard at Rosenborg Castle and followed them to Amalienborg Castle for the changing of the guard.  We don’t need to do that again; however, for the Queen’s birthday they wear their red white and blue uniforms instead of the black and blue uniforms and we thought it would be interesting to see them all dressed up for the party.
Other royalty came to cheer

We were late and raced to catch up with them.  They got to the party before we did.  It’s a festive time.  Thousands of people come to wave to the Queen.  She and her husband come out on the balcony and wave back.  After the Queen has waved the Crown Prince and his family come out with her, then all of the family come out and the thousands of people wave their little Danish flags and together with the Queen, shout “hoorah” several times.

Since we missed following Royal Guard to the “changing of the guard”, we followed them back towards Rosenberg and found a soap bubble man on the way.  It was a bright sunny day and with all the flags flying from buildings, buses, cars and kids it was quite festive.
The Queen and her family

This one is short, but I hope sweet,

Love you all,

  1. How fun.
They look like perfect toy soldiers in those uniforms. The hats are so low though, it seems surprising that they can see anything at all.
The bubble man is quite talented. We might need to make some sticks like his for our ward field day this month. The kids would love it.
    Have fun with the visits.
    See you very soon,
    Lissy
